Celebrate Halloween in Salem, but PLEASE be aware of the city's rules:

• DO NOT use a weapon as part of your costume - real OR FAKE - Police will confiscate anything that looks like a weapon.

• NO public consumption of alcohol is allowed at any time.

• Salem is a residential city - please be considerate of private property.
Ample public restrooms are provided throughout the downtown area.

• The public Halloween celebration officially ends on Halloween Night at 10:30 PM. The streets will be closed after the fireworks and in conjunction with the final trains departing from Salem Depot. The Police and Public Works Departments will be clearing all streets and sidewalks, so visitors should be prepared to depart Salem following the closing ceremony.

• From October 29 - November 1, the fines for citations issued for illegal behavior - including public drinking, vandalism, and littering - are tripled - up to $300
.
